A Health Plan You Can Live With

(Copyright) by Wayne Schatzle (West Chester, Ohio)  In an effort to avoid being cut open and having my heart worked on like so many of my friends of late I have decided to take some drastic measures in my life and be smart in what I shove into my mouth. I have read several books on the subject, and I am sharing with you some of the highlights from my studies. Listed are some of the changes I am trying to make in my life. If you are content in “living to eat” and don’t care if you wind up […]

The year the lions lay down with the Lamb

(Copyright 2015) by Curtis Dahlgren (Stephenson, Michigan)   [MANY YEARS FROM NOW, to coin a phrase, people will still be talking about these awful times – not so much awful for the weather (acts of God) but for the awful acts of men: mass shootings and children beheaded, kidnappings and sex slavery, executions, and torture, and then, besides that, WAR. Now imagine you’re in the year 2525 – after the “Big Gulp” and the big changes.] Grandpa, tell us again about the bad old days.Well, Ismail, the 21st century started out really, really sad, but . . . Did kids really get shot […]

Does Geology Really Disagree with the Bible?

(Copyright 03-24-2025) by David Rives (Lewisburg, Tennessee)  Galileo famously stated that the Bible teaches “how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go,” which highlights the idea that the bible is not an exhaustive record of how God uses physics. But some have taken it too far, using this idea to support a long-standing belief that faith and science are fundamentally opposed. This perspective is increasingly being challenged and has been by the brightest minds in science for years. Today, a growing body of evidence suggests that Biblical scripture can offer valuable insights into various scientific fields, particularly geology. While the Bible […]

Dollars With Eyes

(Copyright 02-24-2025) by Dwight Fleming (Oroville, California)  On the back of a U.S. one dollar bill is a pyramid capped with an eye.  This is the “eye of Providence” which symbolizes God’s eye.  God is certainly watching the affairs of men upon the earth and not via any paper currency. “The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and His ears are inclined to their cry” (Psalm 34:15). “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, observing the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3). But evil men, lusting to have God-like power, now have the technology to place electronic “eyes” into […]

Have Patience with Me

(Copyright) by Annie Poonen (Bangalore, India)  “Have patience with me,” cried the slave as he begged his fellow-slave for mercy (Matt.18:29).  This is also the unspoken cry that comes to us as housewives and mothers from many of those with whom we have to do each day. But we need to be sensitive in our spirits if we are to hear that cry – for it is unspoken. It may be that our children are slow at learning something that we have repeatedly been trying to teach them, and we are sorely tempted to become impatient with them. If we could hear […]

Overwhelmed with Joy and Love

(Copyright) by Eddie Hyatt (Grapevine, Texas)  Sarah Pierpont Edwards attended the Congregational Church in Northampton MA, which was pastored by her husband, Jonathan Edwards. Women were supposed to remain silent in the Puritan/Congregational churches, but a mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit was occurring (the Great Awakening) and she could hardly contain herself at times. “I could scarcely refrain from leaping with transports of joy,” she exclaimed. One day she was so overwhelmed by God’s presence that she could no longer stand but sank to the floor. It happened as she listened to a visiting minister lament that God’s children should […]

My Involvement with 2 Royal Visits to Australia

(Copyright) by Craig White (Australia) In my upbringing South Africa was a republic and of course most at school were that way inclined. My Mum was pro-Royal lite but Dad (as a British migrant) was completely pro-Royal and he helped me to understand its goodness, terrific ancient traditions, the $billions it raises in charity work, the happiness it brings (including the glorious pomp and ceremony), enormous inflow of $$$ due to tourism, stability, etc. etc. etc. Over time I became a constitutional monarchist by age 16 or so. When the family moved to the UK, I was able to see Buckingham Palace, […]

All Goes Well with the Godly

(Copyright) by Zac Poonen (Bangalore, India)  Every step of your future life will be guided by God – if you decide to be a godly person. It is the one who honours God who gets the best in life – not the clever one, or the rich one, or the genius, or the one who gets lucky breaks in life. All insecurity regarding the future comes when we do not choose godliness as a way of life. So, decide to honour God at all times. He will then give you the best spiritually, and at the same time, all that is necessary […]

Breaking with Diotrephes

(Copyright) by Rich Traver (Clifton, Colorado)  Many Biblical Examples exist of Political Situations within the Church. One notable situation was the Congregational Regime related by the beloved Elder and Apostle John as he concluded his Third Epistle. In these latter decades, especially as the Church of God grew, becoming its most significant work in centuries, then when coming under extreme duress, both from without and especially from within, a concept of government was developed to meet the challenges of the times. Not all members were entirely comfortable with what developed, and not all were treated equitably as it all played out.  […]

America’s Covenant with God

(Copyright) by Eddie Hyatt (Tulsa, Oklahoma)  The earliest immigrants to this land believed that they, as a people, had entered into a sacred covenant with God. This was clearly expressed by John Winthrop who, in 1630, led a flotilla of eleven ships with 700 passengers to New England and founded the city of Boston and the Massachusetts Bay Colony.  During their journey across the Atlantic, Winthrop formulated a sermon entitled “A Model of Christian Charity.” In it he exhorted his fellow pilgrims that “the eyes of the world are upon us” and that God would have them, in their new home, to be that […]

Rider with Bow?

(Copyright) by Dwight Fleming (Oroville, California)  In the Book of Revelation, chapter six, we find the famous “four horsemen of the Apocalypse.”  The first horse listed is a white horse.  Some may think this white horse is similar to the white horse that Christ is riding in Revelation 19 at His return to fight against the nations. However, when you correlate the four horses with Christ’s explanation found in Matthew 24, then this white horse corresponds to the spread of false religion or a false message of some kind.  Notice Revelation 6:1-2: “And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the […]

Mexico Reaches Natural Gas Agreement with Russia and China

(Copyright) by Richard Markland (London, Ohio)  Mexico has reached an agreement with two Russian and two Chinese companies after months of negotiations involving natural gas-pipeline contracts, according to negotiators directly involved with the talks. Under the terms agreed upon, Mexico will allow Russian and Chinese troops to stay in the country in order to protect America’s neighbor from “U. S.  Aggression.” In return Russia and China will have access to all natural gas supplies “with assurances that all citizens of Mexico will be provided adequate supplies for all their needs,” according to negotiators. “This is a solution to a very tense and […]

What was WRONG with the Pharisees?

by Nathaniel Burson (Big Sandy, Texas)  What was wrong with the Pharisees? Why did Christ condemn them? Was it for keeping the letter of the law? WHY would He condemn them for doing what HE, HIMSELF said? HE DIDN’T! He never condemned them for the righteous things they did! Matthew 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. Notice He said that tithing of mint, anise, and […]

Dancing with God

Sent by Carolyn Klosowsky (Unknown) When I meditated on the word Guidance,I kept seeing “dance” at the end of the word.I remember reading that doing God’s will is a lot like dancing. When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn’t flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the backor by pressing Lightly in one direction or another. It’s as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from […]

Are We Walking with God?

by Alfio La Spina (Victoria British Columbia)  Think about how Abraham handled difficult situations. Abraham had complete trust in God. When God told him to go to a place that He would show him he went and did not concern himself about where he was going. He had complete trust that God would take care of everything. It is amazing how God took care of Abraham. He will do the same for us as long as we keep our hearts focused on Him. This is the foundation of our salvation it allows our Father to shape us into useful vessels for […]
