Why the Church must Dismantle the False Belief Systems of this Generation
(Copyright 04-04-2025) by Eddie Hyatt (Grapevine, Texas) I recently sat with a small group in a circle that included Rafael Cruz, the father of TX Senator Ted Cruz, and his niece, Bibi Loyola, who is Ted’s cousin and grassroots coordinator. We were having an informal interactive Bible study and the conversation turned to the role of politics in changing American culture. I suggested that it will take more than politics and an election to change America. Everyone heartily agreed and Rafael pointed out that the church in America needs to understand spiritual warfare, and he quoted II Corinthians 10:4-5, which reads, For […]
Why the Church must Avoid Forging Political Alliances in the Days Ahead
(Copyright) by Eddie Hyatt (Grapevine, Texas) As followers of Christ, we must openly support those political candidates whose values and policies reflect our own. However, history shows that when the Church forges cozy ties and alliances with civil authorities or a political party, she loses her purity and the ability to be a bold, prophetic voice to the nation and those in power. Jesus, by His example, showed us the way in this regard. A Kingdom Not of This WorldThere were many political and religious parties in first century Israel, but Jesus forged no ties with any of them. How could […]
Must Women Be Silent in the Church?
by Jeffrey Caldwell (Redwood City, California) Ralph Woodrow, an evangelical Christian minister, is a correspondent of mine. He is a bit famous for formerly supporting Alexander Hislop’s thesis in The Two Babylon’s, but then repudiating his support in a follow-up book when he was challenged to check into the quality of Hislop’s scholarship, which he found quite lacking. He’s taken a lot of heat for that, but I believe he is being quite honest about it. He has written many short books which are edifying biblical studies and his latest is: Must Women Be Silent in the Church? a biblical study […]
How I Learned that the Spirit and Word Must Always Agree
by Eddie Hyatt (Tulsa, Oklahoma) He was the perfect example of what happens when we neglect the Word of God in our pursuit of spiritual experiences. Without the ballast of God’s Word, we may well float away into a La-la land of false spirituality, and this was the case of this individual. My two friends and I encountered this strange little man while going door-to-door, offering to pray with people, and inviting them to revival services we were conducting in Kiowa, OK in 1972. We knocked on his door and he invited us into his home. We immediately noticed that his living […]
Why We Must Put Out Leaven
by Earl L. Henn (Charlotte, North Carolina) Years ago, I had a favorite question to ask ministers about the Feast of Unleavened Bread. “Why must we go through the physical act of putting leaven out of our homes before the Days of Unleavened Bread, but we are not required to be physically circumcised?” I never received an answer. There are many parallels between circumcision and deleavening our homes. Both of these physical acts demonstrate a spiritual principle. Circumcision symbolizes an attitude of heart and mind (Romans 2:26-29), and deleavening our homes symbolizes putting sin out of our lives (I Corinthians 5:6-7). The New […]
