The city of Mayfield, Kentucky was completely destroyed by not only the worst tornado in the state’s history, but the strongest recorded tornado in U.S. history. Because Americans have become accustomed to tornadoes as a natural phenomenon that happens year after year, what took place from Kentucky to Arkansas will soon be forgotten.
