Why Keep the Sabbath?

Are You a Princess?

by Wayne Schatzle (West Chester, Ohio)             Some time ago I read a book about the familiar nursery rhymes and childhood stories published by the Grimm brothers in the early 1800s. Apparently these were mostly German folk stories passed down through generations by word of mouth, and we can thank the Grimm brothers for recording them for posterity. More often than not each story has a prince on a journey, a princess in danger, and an evil individual bent on coming between them.           The object of the book was to show that the point of these folklore stories was not […]

The Doctrine of the Stones

by Jim Patterson (Lisle, Illinois)  Anyone will become aware of the various contentions that arise over doctrine; often surrounding points of view about the nature of God or proper worship. Although in this article we will touch on a couple of specific teachings that give birth to contentions and controversy, we do so only to illustrate and shed light on a greater over-riding perspective of the New Covenant regarding worship and proliferation of the gospel that may be often lost on us. The intent here is to step back for a moment to hopefully get a proper healthy perspective on […]

New Beginning

Why on Earth are you here?

by James McBride (United Kingdom)  That thought crosses the mind of most of us sooner or later.  The basic reply is ‘from mum and dad’. But where did that life force originate? Almost universally it is believed that each of us has an ‘immortal soul’. It’s in us throughout life and persists in some form when we die. Few give thought as to where the ‘soul’ originated. In the Mormon faith all humans lived in a premortal state before coming to earth. The Hindu belief is that the soul continually recycles. For Catholics each human soul is ‘individual and immortal, immediately […]

Transgenderism: Erasing the Created Order

by Richard T. Ritenbaugh (Charlotte, North Carolina)  As late as 2019, Will Thomas swam for the University of Pennsylvania’s men’s swim team, winning one 500-meter freestyle event in 2019 and being named to the All-Ivy League second-team a season earlier. COVID-19 canceled the 2020-2021 season. When swimming competitions resumed in late 2021, Thomas—now known as Lia—swam for the university’s women’s team after undergoing at least a year of testosterone-suppression treatments, as required by the NCAA. Swimming against biological females, Thomas wins races and breaks records with ease, shattering pool, meet, school, and national marks, sometimes by several whole seconds. If Thomas […]

The Spirit of Antichrist is Prevalent

by Alfio La Spina (Victoria British Columbia)  Scripture tells us to try the spirits to see if they are of God this is an important test because we need to be in unity with those that we have fellowship with and those that are teaching. 1Jn 4:1  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 1Jn 4:2  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: 1Jn 4:3  And every spirit that confesseth not that […]

Vulture Bees Evolved or Adapted to Eat Meat?

(Copyright) by David Rives (Tennessee)   We know that vultures eat dead animals and are helpful in cleaning up those rotting remains, but did you know there are also bees that eat carrion? With all the talk of killer bees and murder hornets, here are some bees we can be thankful for! Vulture bees, as they have been named, have been found to have acid in their guts similar to the stomach acid of other animals that feed on carrion, like vultures and hyenas. While there are only three species of vulture bees that exclusively consume dead meat, there are other bees […]

Victims and Vindication

by Catherine C. Kroeger (Brewster, Massachusetts)  Some months ago, I made a duty tour of a section of the Bible that I find incredibly boring. It was in fact the book of Job, composed of interminably long speeches from a crowd of unbelievably rigid and self-righteous snobs. As I started again to plow through their torrent of rhetoric, I suddenly realized that I was hearing the same sentiments that came to me from a far different contemporary source. The opinions of Job’s friends are very much the same as those voiced by faith communities when they address victims of domestic […]

Babylon is falling (Rev 14:8; 18:2)! The Bible announces the major events marking the fulfillment of God’s Plan on earth, including the future of mankind, and how the Divine Government will replace our human-led society. So here is the Biblical Timeline of events that have happened recently, are happening right now before our eyes, or are expected to happen soon! 1) In 2015 – Fulfillment of Joel 2:31: “The […]

No One Knows The Day

Dwight Fleming (Oroville, California)  Jesus Christ warned His followers to be watching for the signs of His return lest they be caught unprepared and miss out on the Resurrection.  Concerning the time of His return, notice: “No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. … Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day on which your Lord will come.  But understand this: If the homeowner had known in which hour the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house […]

Mexico Reaches Natural Gas Agreement with Russia and China

(Copyright) by Richard Markland (London, Ohio)  Mexico has reached an agreement with two Russian and two Chinese companies after months of negotiations involving natural gas-pipeline contracts, according to negotiators directly involved with the talks. Under the terms agreed upon, Mexico will allow Russian and Chinese troops to stay in the country in order to protect America’s neighbor from “U. S.  Aggression.” In return Russia and China will have access to all natural gas supplies “with assurances that all citizens of Mexico will be provided adequate supplies for all their needs,” according to negotiators. “This is a solution to a very tense and […]

Designed for Discovery

(Copyright) by Bradford G. Schleifer (Wadsworth, Ohio)  Part 1: Why the Earth Is UniqueThe Earth is filled with inferences of design. Here is a look at some of these unique and inspiring markers. Getty Images Many millions view Earth as just another planet in a vast universe. They see it as neither unique nor special in any way. But decades of research are changing this view. If we peer through the lens of science, something remarkable can be shown about our planet. The more we discover, the more we realize that hundreds of conditions are needed for the rich abundance of plant, animal, […]

Did Noah Have a Rain Gauge?

(Copyright) by Ernest L. Martin (Portland, Oregon)  What were the waters in the firmament that finally came down to earth? In what form were they before they came to earth? An interesting question now presents itself for our attention. If 15 cubits of water (276 inches of rainfall) descended upon earth, from where did that water have its origin? That is what we want to determine if possible, and it may be shown in the Bible itself. Since the results of the flood, according to Moses, were worldwide in extent, it can reasonably be believed that there was a uniform (or […]

Giving Thanks?

by Royce Mitchell, Jr. (Manvel, Texas)  In the United States, we are rapidly approaching a national holiday known as “Thanksgiving Day.” On this day, people in the United States are told that they should focus on being thankful for everything they have, including a free nation, the freedom to worship God as they wish, for families and pretty much every good thing that they enjoy.  However, the scriptures do not seem to limit what we should be thankful for. Indeed, even the time does not seem to be limited. We are told that we should be “always giving thanks for all things to God the Father in the name of […]

The Nativity and the Weather

by Samuel S. Martin (Israel)  Before my late father began a career as a pastor and then a religious scholar, he was trained as a weather forecaster. He learned this discipline at first in university, but later in the United States Air Force. As a scientist training in the observation of the weather, he always took this matter into consideration when it came to his research studies dealing with the Bible. A number of books that he wrote which he has been recognized for from an academic point of view dealing with the birth of Jesus Christ come to my mind at this […]

Translated to Where?

by James Steinle (Swanville, Minnesota)  Some believe Enoch was translated and never died per Genesis 5:24. That he did not die is not true; that Enoch was ‘translated’ is true.  For an example of what happened to Enoch, we will examine what happened to Elijah which I believe cannot be any different in essence.  2 Kings 2:11 is used to supposedly prove that Elijah was taken up into heaven in a whirlwind, and so that is where he has been ever since; “And it came to pass, as they (Elijah and Elisha) still went on, and talked, that, behold, there […]

Bodies and Souls As Commodities

(Copyright) by David Sielaff (Portland, Oregon) Iron Sharpening IronIn regard to: Bodies and Souls As CommoditiesArticle by David SielaffComments by Laura Lee (Bismarck, North Dakota)  I only have one thing to add to this article. The author claims that it will be decades before Christ returns, in my opinion I believe the return of Christ is much closer than that, probably sometime within the next 10 years or less. No one knows when Christ will return but there are many signs in place that argues for sooner than for later.

Heavenly Father

by Richard Frates (Easley, South Carolina)  Heavenly Father, the Tower of Babel is standing high; rising to the heavens; the world nations are united against you. Terrorists kill, men women and children in the UK, and the explosion is heard in New York and Moscow, Genesis 11:4-8. Heavenly father, we citizens of the world no longer need you. Leaders of the nations can communicate in a moment. Our scientists, educators and engineers can quickly devise a plan or scheme to solve all the world’s problems. Heavenly Father, go away; we, the world nations will make our own gods and give them artificial […]

The Devil, UFOs, and Invaders from Space!

by HOIM Staff, John Keyser (Azusa, California)  Do “flying saucers” exist? And are they extraterrestrial visitations from another planet or planets? Or do they involve Satan the devil in some way? If so, how? And for what reason? There is no doubt that many unexplained phenomena occur which nobody understands fully. Many claims have been made by men and women who say they have seen unusual creatures or strange beings who appeared to be unearthly in appearance. Sometimes they seemed to appear out of a strange flying object, perhaps some sort of space craft. Some of these men were put to […]

Why Wouldn’t He?

by Nathaniel Burson & James E. Burson (Big Sandy, Texas)  YOU LACK FAITH. You know this is true. You may not like accepting it, but it is true. You know full well that you could have more faith than you do – probably a lot. DO YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY? If the answer is not a resounding yes – a YES, that YOU INTEND TO BACK UP by doing WHATEVER IT TAKES to correct it – then you are reading the wrong article. If you are willing to pay ANY PRICE to have God pleased with you, if you TRULY want to have […]

Teaching of the Tithe

by Ray Daly (Lincoln, North Dakota)              Deut. 14:22. “You shall truly TITHE all of the increase of all your [produce] that the fields bring forth.  Year by year!”            As shown, this Study is on “Tithing”.  And to “Tithe”, meant to set aside the “first of each ten”.  The first of animals, and the first of anything grown from the ground.  Whether crops, fruits, and the like. Actually, since all “livings” are made from that which is produced from the ground, then ALL occupations that earn money, is to be Tithed on.  And take note that, there is only ONE […]

Atonement and Suffering

by Richard Frates (Easley, South Carolina)  The apostles felt privileged to suffer persecution for Christ. Acts 5:41” rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering” for Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives. Philippians 1:29 “It has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer for him”. Philippians 3:10-11, I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow to attain to the resurrection […]

How a Great Awakening Turned America’s Founders Against Slavery

by Eddie Hyatt (Tulsa, Oklahoma)   America’s Founders are under attack. Their monuments are being toppled and their names removed from schools and other public buildings. Children are being taught that George Washington and Benjamin Franklin were evil, rich slaveowners who formed this nation to protect their wealth and maintain the institution of slavery. This twisted history of America is dividing and destroying her. The truth is that at a time when slavery was being practiced in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and many parts of the world, America’s founders turned against it. Dr. Thomas Sowell, who happens to be black, has written […]

A Little Here and A Little There

by Laura Lee (Bismarck, North Dakota)  I have no idea how many times I have read my Bible from cover to cover, since I bought my first Bible when I was in third grade. Recently two different people have pointed out scriptures which I clearly don’t think I ever saw before. Yes, I read them many times, but I never saw them before. I am sure that not just me, but others have read right over these same scriptures and probably many others and for some reason they just never registered. Rachel and Deborah (This section written by Dwight Fleming.)When Jacob […]

Some Things to Consider as a Possibility

by James Steinle (Swanville, Minnesota)  Ever wonder how even the very elect could, if possible, be deceived by false Christs (Messiahs) and false prophets which will show great signs and wonders (Matthew 24:24)?  Most of the elect base their world and society views on basic conservative teachings from the Scriptures.  So, if the elect might if possible be deceived by false Messiahs (or, a false Messiah), does it not make sense that a false messiah (and false prophets) would come across as very conservative sounding also in order to deceive? In the middle of the Scriptures is Psalm 118, preceded by […]

Happy New Year…!

by John Jewell (London, England)  That’s what most of the British people were wishing each other as the chimes of Big Ben rang throughout London and resounded from the loudspeakers of radios and television sets throughout the rest of the western world as their citizens likewise wished each other a Happy New Year or however it is in their local language. Bonne Annee, I think, in French!  Throughout the United Kingdom parties were being held, fireworks let off in celebration. And, I suppose, the usual competition for best firework display between Sydney in Australia and London. I enjoy firework displays. […]

A Warning from the Past

(Copyright) by Richard Markland  A war on free speech is being waged. Targeting anyone who speaks out or questions Leaders in power is becoming increasingly dangerous. As sinister actions on the part of elected officials in Washington are becoming more obvious, there is a real danger for anyone who holds leaders accountable for their abuse of power. The key to keeping the American people at bay is to instill fear for what is openly expressed. What people are saying and doing is being used against them. Washington is Big Brother. Out of control government is now dictating what people can and […]

Profile of a Victim

Brenda Branson (Hanson, Kentucky) Copyright © 2004  Although battered women may exhibit some of the characteristics in the list below, the one element that is shared by all victims is FEAR!  A woman is more likely to be killed when she tries to leave than at any other time.  The abuser may also threaten to hurt or kill family members or friends who try to help the victim. Besides living in fear for her own safety and that of her family, a battered woman fears being homeless and unable to provide for her children, as well as threats by the […]

Are All Christians Hypocrites?

(Copyright) by Curtis Dahlgren (Stephenson, Michigan)  “If we expect others to rescue our nation for us, as we go about our daily lives as mere observers to what is transpiring, or close our eyes and ears to current events, we will lose the struggle.” – Mark Levin, “American Marxism” THE LEFT HATES AMERICA. Ezekiel’s Timeless Message – What is the Real “Work of the Watchman”?

(Copyright) by Vance A. Stinson (Tyler, Texas)  God said to the prophet Ezekiel, “I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; therefore, you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for Me.” What kind of warning was this? Was it primarily geopolitical in nature? Did it involve dire warnings about coming earthquakes, famines, disease epidemics, floods, droughts, and other disasters? Was it an ancient form of the sensational “headline theology” that is so popular among a large number of evangelical preachers and writers today? What does the watchman’s message have to do with the mission of the New […]

The Mystery of God

by Dwight Fleming (California)  “In the beginning . . . God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them” Genesis 1:1, 27. Both a man and a woman picture the likeness and nature of God. We primarily only see the masculine side of God while the feminine side of God is not as obvious. There is God the Father and Jesus the Son of God. Both members of the Godhead are described as masculine and for good reason. But if the Godhead is both male and female, then where can […]

What Makes a Great Nation?

by Jeffrey Caldwell (Redwood City, California)  What makes for a great nation is relevant to God’s holy nation. It seems good to me to share with you a couple of my recent Facebook posts: The day after the election: ————Today we, here in the United States, have a new President-elect — not the one that I, nor many of us, were expecting! Reminded that citizenship confers not only rights, but also responsibilities. Thanks to the wisdom of our founders each of us has a say in the public square and ability to communicate with fellow citizens or our officials. Even, where appropriate, to engage […]

The Leaven of Righteousness

by Nathaniel Burson (Big Sandy, Texas)  Matthew 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. WHY is the Kingdom of God like LEAVEN, of all things? Why use LEAVEN, which appears to represent SIN throughout the Bible, to represent the Kingdom of God? And why are there THREE measures of meal – not twelve or seven or some other number? And why was the leaven HID in them? And how did the WHOLE get leavened? In leading into […]

ATONEMENT and Suffering: Crucified – The Price Paid

Critical Race Theory and the Bible Answer

by Eddie Hyatt (Tulsa, Oklahoma)  Critical Race Theory is defined by its name. For proponents of this new and novel theory, race is everything and “critical” for interpreting all of life, particularly American life. According to CRT, race is what defines you, labels you, and determines your worth and your role in society. This, of course, is rooted in Marxist ideology, which seeks to divide and conquer by dividing people into groups—the oppressed and the oppressors—and pitting them against one another. Classic Marxism sought to divide nations on the basis of economics, pitting the bourgeoisie (wealthy land and factory owners) against the proletariat […]

Ezekiel’s Message

by John & Rosemary Morton (New Zealand)(Edited for Shepherd’s Voice Magazine)  A note from the editor of Shepherd’s Voice Magazine Jim Patterson:Prophecy in the Old Testament must not be maligned and misinterpreted to suit denominational ideas regarding the future of modern nations and of the church as a whole, where in fact the prophecy had already been fulfilled. Unless compelled to do otherwise by the context in which a prophecy was given, we are not at liberty to interpret it with dual fulfillments, create suitable scenarios in how they apply to our modern day, nor use it to fulfill any […]

Stop. Slow down, Pray and Think

by Tommy Willis (New Orleans, Louisiana)  In this modern world we have many time saving devices, yet we are more in a rush than ever before. Why? Well, every fulfilled desire lays the seed for more desires. If we had a washing machine that washed clothes in 15 minutes instead of 30 minutes, then we would want that one; then we would want the newer one that claims to wash our clothes in 10 minutes. Then we would want the newer one after that, which is ever faster. The problem is our human nature as it is, is never satisfied. […]

How They Make Us Sick Trying to Make Us Well

by David Antion (Pasadena, California)  Do you have sugar diabetes?Well, it might all depend upon the year. Prior to 1997, if you had a fasting blood sugar level over 140 you were considered to have sugar diabetes. But in 1997 an expert committee on the diagnosis and classification of diabetes lowered this number. After 1997 you had sugar diabetes if you had a fasting blood sugar level over 126. When doctors saw that a person had a blood sugar of over 125, they immediately diagnosed them with sugar diabetes. When diagnosed, they treated them. Even though the patient may not have […]

What is “Sucralose”?

by Jeffrey Caldwell (Redwood City, California)  Technically, the correct chemical name for “sucralose” — a popular ‘sugar substitute’ – is “1,6-dichloro-1,6-dideoxy-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-alpha-D-galactopyranoside” (!) Sucralose is a common ingredient in “light” calorie foods. “Sucralose” is a generic trade name for Splenda*, the artificial sweetener advertised as “made from sugar”. The “ose” ending is standard in chemistry for real sugars, such as sucrose, glucose, or dextrose. But sucralose is actually a sweet-tasting chlorinated hydrocarbon. Sucralose is an official nickname coined to sell the chlorinated hydrocarbon “1,6-dichloro-1,6-dideoxy-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-alpha-D-galactopyranoside” as a sugar substitute. Splenda — “1,6-dichloro-1,6-dideoxy-beta-D-fructofuranosyl-4-chloro-4-deoxy-alpha-D-galactopyranoside” — is indeed made from sugar – by means of a complicated […]

Invisible Wounds That Scar the Soul

The Coming of the Son of Man

by Ray Daly (Lincoln, North Dakota)              This short study is based on the Scriptural teachings regarding the coming of the Son of Man, at the end time.  At which end time he will, after all enemies have been removed, sit on his throne, and begin to teach and judge the peoples on earth.  Allowing them to make their own choices, and not “forcing the Truth” down their throats.  As the saying goes.            Consider the following Scriptures regarding the Son of Man, and the role he will play on earth.  For, he will come to the earth at least two […]

2018 poll: 40 percent of Americans trust science “a great deal”

(Copyright) by Curtis Dahlgren (Stephenson, Michigan)  “If you cannot question it, it’s not science. It’s propaganda.” – meme ON WISCONSIN magazine, Spring 2020, published an article, “There’s no war on Science among the American Public; an analysis of opinion polls over time shows that Americans across the political spectrum maintain high levels of confidence in scientists.” The real question is, do we have a high level of confidence in polls? And 40 percent trust is nothing to brag about. Excerpt from the article: “In the 2018 General Social Survey, about 40 percent of respondents reported a great deal of confidence in the […]
