| Â Echoes are heard within the tomb my mind is unable to escape. Its darkness embraces and smothers the human spirit. Light is not permitted beyond a thick coal black canvass called depression. The words have no meaning that I hear each day. The people I see beyond the steel door that holds me captive have no purpose. Quiet moments are not permitted. Â There is no beauty in this world. There is no exit. Once this world is entered, there is no escape. Â Hate has found a home. Anger thrives and grows. Madness is a constant companion for those who are all too willing to abide by its rules. Â Freedom is held closely in the darkness of the night. Sleep provides escape to imaginary places taken through dreams. Â Reality welcomes me with open arms each morning. The journey taken is a familiar one. My steps are placed within those of the day before. Â I await the day when I no longer hear mindless echoes within the tomb I now live. My spirit will no longer be threatened by a thick coal black canvass called depression. The light promised by God will shine in full strength. The hope I now have will become the freedom I yearn for. |
