| ”And he [Joseph] fell upon his brother Bejamin’s neck and wept; and Benjamin wept upon his neck” (Genesis 45:14). If Jerusalem is the “apple” of God’s eye, then where can we find His geographical neck? Is it time for Christians to “stick our necks out”? How so? “Let not truth and mercy forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart” (Proverbs 3:3). The neck connects the head with the heart. Ponder this if you dare, but don’t “break your neck” over it. Meanwhile, the crowd roared with excitement as the two speeding horses raced “neck and neck” toward the finish line. After the race, the crowd exited slowly from the stadium because one of the double doors was stuck closed which created a bottle-neck. “And the LORD said to Moses, ‘I have seen this people, and indeed it is a stiff-necked people”(Exodus 32:9). “‘On that day,’ declares the LORD of Hosts, ‘I will break the yoke off their necks and tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers enslave them'” (Jeremiah 30:8). Please don’t get mad at me and want to “wring my neck” for the above word-teasing and emphasis. I’m trying to create some intrigue for a short video that you may find inspiring and educational. The ancient village of Bethel in Israel played a significant and symbolic role in the early history of Israel. How did it connect to other important centers of worship in Israel and Judah? I promise that this video won’t be a pain in your neck: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xodPJ7a6KQ |
