| ”And he [the second beast] causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Revelation 13:16-17). What did the apostle John mean, “the number of his name”? In verse 18, John said to count or calculate or add up this number of the name which would come to 666. So, the “number” of the name of the Beast is not 666 as many believe. Also, many add up the name of the Beast to see if it equals 666. This is also incorrect. We are told to add up the “number of the name” to see if it adds up to 666. (Note: Some manuscripts have “616.”) Once again, what did John mean by “the number of the name”? The answer is so simple that you probably won’t accept it. Before I explain it, let me give you some personal history for background. In a previous article, I named Prince Charles (now King Charles III) as a very likely candidate for being the Little Horn of Daniel which means he will be the future Antichrist anticipated by all Bible prophecy students. This future Antichrist will also be the leader of the Beast that rises out of the sea in Revelation 13. I came to see this possibility way back in the early 1980s, when writing my book on prophecy. My primary goal for the book was to give a chronological order of events as outlined in the Book of Revelation. In the last chapter of my book, I only had a few paragraphs showing how Prince Charles fit the details about a prophesied Antichrist who would be falsely hailed as the Messiah. I was able to get my book printed in 1984 and began my humble efforts to advertise it with limited funds. One lady from Ohio who had ordered my book had an interesting response to my naming Prince Charles as the Antichrist. She ended her letter by saying, “still laughing in Ohio.” Her reaction is not uncommon. I recently heard Pastor Steve Cioccolanti from Australia mention King Charles in regard to being the Antichrist. He stated that the Antichrist would probably be someone younger and much more charismatic. King Charles certainly does not appeal to the masses, so few see him as an Antichrist candidate. However, he does appeal to the elites of the world. Years after publishing my book, I came across another source that also saw what I saw regarding Prince Charles. Tim Cohen came to the same conclusion about Prince Charles in 1987 while a cadet at Colorado Springs. He was able to do much more research into the matter than I was able to do. He came out with his book in 1998, entitled, “The Antichrist and a Cup of Tea.” The way that I learned about Tim’s book was a bit strange. Twenty years ago in October 2002, we listened to a sermon tape for Sabbath from a prominent minister of the church organization that I was meeting with. This minister, who believed that he was a prophet, mentioned hearing about Tim’s book from others. Rather than obtaining the book and carefully considering what it presented about Prince Charles, this minister rejected the notion as being completely silly and foolish. I was stunned by his reaction and didn’t see how God would be able to keep using this minister for any significant work in the area of Bible prophecy. Sadly, this well-known COG minister suffered an untimely death less than a year later. I was fascinated by Tim’s book and was glad that I had found out about it. He was successful in his publishing efforts to my delight. I lost track of him until just now. I came across these two videos last night with Tim discussing things from his book and more recent events regarding Prince Charles. He will soon come out with a revised edition of his book since much has happened since 1998, especially since Charles is now king. I do not agree with Tim on every point. His explanation of Daniel 9:27 is typical of most Protestant thinking and teaching. This final week regarding a covenant is believed to be a 7-year peace agreement that is made with Israel. I have explained my thinking on this in my article, “Seventy Weeks Prophecy.” The first video covers the Commonwealth Games that took place this last summer with Prince Charles presiding. It will blow your mind with the prophetic symbolism. It is short. The second video is much longer but well worth your time. It will include the Commonwealth Games event near the end of it. As Tim points out, King Charles comes across as stuffy and dull, certainly not charismatic. Satan can change that as he did with the king of Tyre. As you will learn, Prince Charles has been in the forefront of the saving the planet movement. We are currently seeing how fossil fuel is being demonized with foolish efforts being made to restrict its use. At some point in this carbon battle, the Two Witnesses will come into play. It is interesting that they are pictured by two olive trees in Revelation and Zechariah. In Zechariah 4:14, the footnote at Biblehub.com for “anointed ones” says, “the two sons of new oil.” Will the Two Witnesses someday soon discover a new source of fossil fuel near Jerusalem? Is this enmity against fossil fuel one reason that the Beast (King of the North) will eventually attack the Two Witnesses and the Middle East? Stay tuned to world events. Things could get very interesting in the year ahead. The number of the name of the Beast. What did John see that he called a “number”? John was looking into the future. What do we commonly do today that represents a name or a title? Do you know the number of your name? Let’s say that your name is “John James Jones.” What would be the number of your name that could stand in place of your full name? Would you add up the number value of each letter of your name to see what it added up to? Probably not. People do not know you by a number other than perhaps your phone number. If we don’t want to write or say a person’s full name, we will often use their initials. John James Jones would be “JJJ” or perhaps just “JJ.” This is what John saw. However, for John, letters in the Greek and Hebrew have number values. They did not use Arabic numerals as we do today. They used the letters of their alphabets for numbers. Thus, when John saw the initials or monogram of the name of the Beast, he called it a number. Can you tell me who these people are just by giving you, their numbers? FDR? JFK? LBJ? Or the number of a title? Who is POTUS? Or the numbers of government agencies, such as, FBI, CIA, IRS? We all recognize the names behind these “numbers.” John said to add up the number to see if it equals 666. He said that this number is the number of a “man.” Look up the meaning of Charles and where the name comes from. Another video that I recently came across shows that King Charles could also possibly be heir to the throne of Charlemagne. But caution is advised. All of this clever reasoning and speculation could just turn out to be fairy dust. We cannot lock ourselves into any single thinking when it comes to the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. We must do as Christ warned: Watch and be alert and don’t be deceived. Still, do take the time to watch these videos and carefully consider what they reveal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tpvgGTFAiM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJul0igzPtQ |
