WHICH ONE DO YOU OBSERVE? AND WHY? ![]() ONE IS SCRIPTURAL AND ONE IS PAGAN The Messiah and His Disciples kept One. Pagans kept the Other. The Bible commands One be Observed. Pagans kept the Other. The True Church observed One. Pagans kept the Other. One is the Gateway to Eternal Life. The Pagans kept the Other. WHICH ONE IS WHICH? DO YOU KNOW THE DIFFERENCE? Messiah: “…I will keep the Passover…with my Disciples.” (Matt. 26:18) “…This do in remembrance of Me…” (Lk. 22:19) Disciples: Polycarp of Smyrna [Rev. 2:8-11) always observed the Passover with John, the disciple of Yahshua, and the rest of the Apostles. (Eusebius’ “Ecclesiastical History” , Bk. V, Ch. XXIV) Pagans: In 159 A.D., Polycarp urged Anicetus, the bishop of the see at Rome, to observe the tradition he had received from the Apostles of observing the Passover on the 14th day of the first month. Anicetus declined. (“The Apostolic Fathers,” Part 2, Vol. 1, p. 450) Bible: “In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is Yahweh’s Passover.” (Lev. 23:5) Pagans: In 197 A.D. Passover was again discussed between Polycrates, bishop of Ephesus (Rev. 2:1-7), and Victor, bishop of Rome. (Lightfoot, Vol. 1, p. 393) Victor demanded that all should adopt the usage prevailing at Rome. (Encyclopedia Britannica, 11 ed., vo. VIII, pp. 828-829) True Church: “The festival, of which we read in Church history, under the Name of Easter, in the third and fourth centuries…was not known…as Easter. It was called “Pasch,” or the Passover… That festival agreed…with the time of the Jewish Passover [14th]… was…observed by many professing Christians… Was not idolatrous, and it was preceded by no Lent.” (“The Two Babylons”, Alexander Hislop, p. 104) Paul: “The Messiah our Passover was sacrificed for us. Let us…keep the Feast [“Holy Day”: KJV margin; Passover].” (I Cor. 5:7,8) Pagans: The apostasy spread until the pagan Easter was adopted at the Council of Nice in A.D. 325: ”The decision of the council was unanimous that Easter [not Passover] was to be kept on Sunday…and that none hereafter should follow the blindness of the Jews [not observe Passover on the 14th].” (Encyclopedia Britannica, 11 ed., vol. VIII, pp. 829) Passover: Gateway to Eternal Life: “…Yahshua took bread… and said, Take eat; This is my Body. and He took the cup, … saying, Drink you all of it; for this is My Blood in the New Covenant.” (Matt. 26:26-28) “…Except you eat the Flesh of the Son of man, and drink His Blood, you have no life in you. Whoso eats My flesh, and drinks My blood, has Eternal Life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (Jn. 6:53-54) Pagans: Continue to observe the pagan Easter and miss Eternal Life. ——————————————————————————————————- Reprinted with permission from: International Congregation of Yahweh http://www.icyahweh.org/ ——————————————————————————————————- |
