![]() The Bible told us it would come when it said there would be a “Falling Away [from the truth]” (II Thessalonians 2:9), but very few saw the form this “departure” from the Gospel would take, as the attached humorous cartoon shows. The Scriptures also describe it as a “Snare,” but the practice of breaking free to pursue unrestricted, selfish interests is essentially when Flesh and Blood pursuits unexpectedly rise above Spiritual and moral considerations. Jesus Christ said this time would be similar to Sodom and Gomorrah, as that account formed the vivid historical example of what happens when restraint is removed, and people do whatever they please, while carelessly ignoring the consequences. Biblically literate Christians know the Bible said there would come a time when something called “the restrainer” is “taken out of the way” (II Thessalonians 2:7), but they’ve been inaccurately taught because it has already occurred.
