![]() MANY CHURCHES CLAIM TO BE “THE TRUE CHURCH.” WHAT SHOULD WE LOOK FOR? IS THERE A TRUE CHURCH ON EARTH….TODAY? Is there an actual “True” Church with the same doctrines of the original church the Messiah founded? He said “…I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it…” (Matt. 16:18). He said there would be one….today. That is, it will not die out. Did He mean it? WHAT WILL IT TEACH? A church cannot be the True church without teaching the Law (first 5 books) the prophets taught which are the foundation of the church (Eph 2:20). A scattered, but organized flock (Jn. 11:52), this “ecclesia”, will come with the same gospel message He taught, having the “faith…. once delivered….;” (Jude 3). WILL IT HAVE OPULENT BUILDINGS, COLLEGES? No New Testament evidence exists that the true church had multimillion dollar buildings, lavish real estate holdings, colleges, or millionaire pastors. The large upper room where the Passover was celebrated was a guest chamber in a house (Lk. 22:10-13; Mk. 14:14). “These two passages in the NT “concern a room in a private house, which the owner…placed at the disposal of Yahshua (rendered “Jesus”) and His Disciples for the celebration of the Passover.” Editor’s Note: Christ did not keep the Passover with His disciples the night before He died. Christ was the Passover Lamb who died for our sins. He died between the two evenings on the 14th of Nisan at approximately 3:00 PM. The Passover meal was on the evening as the 14th of Nisan as it turned into the 15th of Nisan. Laura Lee (Vine’s Complete Expository Dictionary, of the Old and New Testament, p. 285). On Pentecost the church was assembled in a house (Acts 2:2). Had No church buildings. CENTRAL TRUTHS: The central truths He came preaching that identifies that true church: (1). Proclaims the name of Yahweh: “I am come in my Father’s Name… (John 10:25) …I kept them in Your Name (Jn. 17:12) … I have declared to them Your Name. (Jn 17:26).” The Father’s name is Yahweh: Matt. 21:9; Mk. 11:10; Lk. 13:35; Jn. 12:13. (These are quotes of Psa. 118:26: LORD = YAHWEH).” Editor’s Note: It is not a command to keep sacred names. In the English Language we use, God, Father, Christ, Jesus, Lord etc. Laura Lee (2). Has the sign of sanctification: Yahweh’s Law of Holy Sabbaths observed from Dawn-to-Dark. “…I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a Sign between me and them, that they might know that I am Yahweh that sanctifies them… hallow my Sabbaths: and they shall be a Sign between me aand you that you may know that I am Yahweh your Mighty One.” (Ezk. 20:12,20; See also Ex. 31:13). Editor’s Note: God’s days are from sunset to sunset. Read Genesis. Laura Lee Only Yahweh’s New Moons and Holy Days are observed. No Easter, No Christmas, No Sunday worship. Editor’s Note: There is no command in scripture to keep new moons, but we are to keep the Saturday Sabbath as well as all of the annual Holy Day Sabbaths. Laura Lee (3). Teaches the Mosaic Law contained in the New Covenant: “If the first covenant had been faultless…For finding fault with them [the people; not the Law]…I will make a New Covenant…this is the Covenant that I will make…I will put My Laws in their mind and write them in their hearts…” (Heb. 8:7-8,10) Like the New Covenant, the First Covenant also contained the Law (Ex. 24:3-4,7). “And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the Law to fail.” (Lk. 16:17) ANOTHER MESSAGE OF THE TRUE CHURCH: “…If they hear not Moses [the Law] and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though One rose from the dead. (Lk.16:31) “But if you believe not his [Moses’, v.46] Writings, how shall you believe My words?” (Jn. 5:47) Do you hear the Law of Moses? Jesus nowhere used the Tetragramaton in the New Testament as it was inspired to be written in GREEK. If we must use BIBLICAL language names for God, would it not be more appropriate to call God by the GREEK name: THEOS. Makes sense. And the name JESUS is the Greek name for Joshua, so we should continue to use His name in Greek. I don’t know why anyone would want to switch from what the Holy Spirit says and use OLD testament language names. And didn’t God create ALL the languages?
Correct, Laura. Using the first visible crescent to begin the months is not Biblical. Cloudy, rainy days are obviously a problem. Noah, who knew when the months began (Gen. 7:11; 8:4,14) definitely did not, could not, see a crescent during the 40 days of rain during the flood.
We believe the 4th Commandment must be followed: “You shall not take the name of Yahweh [KJV “LORD”] your Elohim [“Mighty One”; “God”: KJV] in vain: for Yahweh [“LORD”: KJV] will not hold him guiltless that takes His name in vain.” (Ex. 20:7; “treats His name as vain, unimportant”). In the KJV when LORD (all capitals) is used it is the Hebrew “Yahweh” used about 7000 times in the Old Testament. The Creator’s name is “Yahweh” in all languages. Names are transliterated from one language to another. Meaning the name is pronounced the same in all languages. Your name is “Keith” so we would not call you “Joe” or “Don” for the same reasons. Not likely you would answer to another name. Same is true for Yahweh.
Final comment: If God created all the languages (though they have evolved and developed over the years just as Hebrew and Aramaic has) then are not ALL languages sacred?
the only way to “observe” the new moon is to go out and LOOK at it to know when to start the month on the exact right day. But there is no celebration on that day (except Trumpets).
The best way to know when the new month starts is to use the Hebrew Calendar which God gave to the Jewish people to preserve. They did not use the sighting of the new moon at the time of the temple in Christ’s day. They used calculations just like the Hebrew Calendar today. Your theory of observation of the new moon falls apart when it is cloudy for many days in a row and the moon cannot be seen at all.
Right, Laura, cloudy, rainy days are obviously a problem. Noah, who knew when the months began (Gen. 7:11; 8:4,14) definitely did not, could not, see a crescent during the 40 days of rain during the flood.
According to Spier’s Comprehensive Hebrew Calendar (pp. 1-2, 15) the method of observing the new crescent was in use from Jewish early history and during the time of the second temple (516 B.C.E.-70 C.E.). As Spier notes on p. 15: “It is obviously not the intention of the calendar calculation to establish Rosh Hashanah and the beginnings of the month on the day of the conjunction. It would rather appear that the beginnings of the years and the months are generally adjusted to the days on which the Sanhedrin would have sanctified them on the basis of the observation of the new crescent.”
