| Dear Friends and Brethren, It’s been asserted that Jesus broke the Sabbath, and hence we are free to disregard it as well. But did Jesus break the Sabbath? The basis for the idea that Jesus broke the Sabbath is the accusations made by Jesus’ enemies among the Pharisees and scribes. Because Jesus performed miracles of healing on the Sabbath and did not honor their manmade rules regarding Sabbath observance, the Pharisees accused him of breaking the Sabbath. But did he in fact, break the Sabbath? To many who consider themselves Christians, not to mention those who do not, the Sabbath may seem of little importance. Yet, the implications of this question are far-reaching, and of profound significance regarding your own salvation. For today’s sermon, I have edited and re-posted the message titled “Did Jesus Break the Sabbath?” We also have an article by the same title. Lack of understanding regarding this question, and assertions that Jesus broke the Sabbath have undermined the faith of people I’ve known who were at one time members of God’s Church. You need to have a firm understanding of the correct answer.
