| In past associations I do not remember the Songs of Moses being taught. So why go over it now on what is commonly called Pentecost (meaning count 50) or the Feast of Weeks or the Feast of Harvest? What application does it have to us? As I think we will see, the Songs of Moses are not just about ancient history. There are lessons to be learned from these, actually two, songs of Moses. In fact, the lessons that our Creator wanted His people to learn was so important that it was actually taught to Israel in song form so they would remember and not forget it! How many of us remember this song? I have to say I did not remember much of Moses message before this other than having some general thoughts. And what is the songs application to this “Feast of Harvest” and is there a connection that has to do with the saints that will marry Yayshua? Let’s turn to Rev. 11:14-19 to set the stage for when we go back in the OT to go through the Songs of Moses. Rev 11:14 The second woe is past; and behold, the third woe cometh quickly. 15 And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord [1], and of his Messiah; and he shall reign for ever and ever. [1. As a side note: G2962, Lord, Master as in authority over a wife or children; versus G1203 which refers to a Lord or Despot over slaves] (cont.) 16 And the four and twenty elders, which sat before God or Yehovah on their seats, fell upon their faces, and worshipped Yehovah, 17 Saying, We give thee thanks, O Yehovah El Shaddai [the Most High El], which are, and was, and are to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned. 18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead [spiritually?], that they should be judged, and that thou should give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and should destroy them [spiritually dead?] which destroy the earth. 19 And the temple of Yehovah was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thundering’s, and an earthquake, and great hail. What was the testament that is in his ark? Deut.10:4-5 shows it is the 10 Commandments written by Yehovah. In Matthew 25:14-30 Yayshua tells about this time of judgment in the parable of the talents and the rewards that are given, or not given, to the saints. [Some increased their reward but 1 did not & what he had was taken away] Now jumping ahead 4 chps. to Rev. 15:1 And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of Yehovah [the God]. (Rev. 16 gives an overview of the wrath.) Back to Rev. 13:7-9 And it was given unto him (the Beast power) to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. 9 If any man have an ear, let him hear. 10 He that leads into captivity shall go into captivity: he that kills with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints. [Yayshua said in Matthew 24:12, that due to lawlessness, the love of many shall grow cold, and maybe due to fear, some brethren may give away their other brethren causing them to go into captivity; and some brethren may be killed.] Matthew 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Back to Rev 15 and the sea of glass: 2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them (the saints) that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of [the] God or Yehovah. (A Little more about the sea of glass) Rev 4:6-11 And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind. 7 And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle. 8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Yehovah El Shaddai, which was, and is, and is to come. 9 And when those beasts give glory and honor and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who lives for ever and ever, 10 The four and twenty elders fall down before him that sat on the throne, and worship him that lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying, 11 Thou art worthy, O Yehovah, to receive glory and honor and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Now back to Rev 15:3 And they (the saints standing on the sea of glass) sing the song of Moses the servant of Yehovah, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Yehovah El Shaddai; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. 4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord [or Yehovah], and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest [judgments are made obvious to all]. The EXODUS AND THE FIRST SONG OF MOSES In Exodus chp’s. 13 & 14 The Chosen People were just coming out of Egypt and on their way to the promised land. Ex 13: “1 And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Sanctify unto me all the firstborn, whatsoever openeth the womb among the children of Israel, both of man and of beast: it is mine. 3 And Moses said unto the people, Remember this day, in which ye came out from Egypt, out of the house of bondage; for by strength of hand Yehovah brought you out from this place: there shall no leavened bread be eaten. 4 This day came ye out in the month Abib (tender, or green ears of grain). Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, and in the seventh day shall be a feast to Yehovah. 7 Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters. 8 And thou shalt shew thy son in that day, saying, This is done because of that which Yehovah did unto me when I came forth out of Egypt. 9 And it shall be for a sign unto thee upon thine hand, and for a memorial between thine eyes, that the Yehovah’s law may be in thy mouth: for with a strong hand hath Yehovah brought thee out of Egypt… 11 And it shall be when Yehovah shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, as he sware unto thee and to thy fathers, and shall give it thee, 12 That thou shalt set apart unto Yehovah all that openeth the matrix, and every firstling that cometh of a beast which thou hast; the males shall be Yehovah’s.” (THE FIRSTLINGS representing the Feast of First fruits or Pentecost, as Yayshua was the first fruit at the spring Holy days, but the saints also represent firstlings or fruits before the great harvest of mankind. This happened at the time of Pentecost in Acts 2 when we went from being dead spiritually to receiving the gift of the Set Apart Spirit, a down payment on eternal life). Cont. in Ex 14:1-3, “And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying, 2 Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn and encamp before Pihahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, over against Baalzephon: before it shall ye encamp by the sea. 3 For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are entangled in the land, the wilderness hath shut them in.” [Note: the powers of this world in these last times will make it look like there is no escape from them either. We are seeing George Orwell’s book “1984” come to fruition right now where the people in power know everything about us, where we are and how to control us with hunger.] 4 (cont.) Yehovah hardened Pharoh’s heart), [5-9 the powers back in Egypt made it look back then like there was no escape]. v. 10-11 “And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto Yehovah. 11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.” [Question: Will we be like the people back then? Is this why Yayshua said in Luke 18:7-9 And shall not Elohim avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? 8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? 9 And he spoke this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:] Ex 14:13-23 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of Yehovah, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 Yehovah shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. 15 And Yehovah said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward: 16 But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it: and the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. 17 And I, behold, I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they shall follow them: and I will get me honour upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 18 And the Egyptians shall know that I am Yehovah, when I have gotten me honour upon Pharaoh, upon his chariots, and upon his horsemen. 19 And the angel (messenger) of Elohim (God), which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them: 20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night. 21 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and Yehovah caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. :22 And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground: and the waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left. 23 And the Egyptians pursued and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.” A SONG OF THE JOY OF SALVATION OR RESCUE – SPRING FEAST Exo 15:1 Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto Yehovah, and spake, saying, I will sing unto Yehovah, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. 2 Yehovah is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my Elohim (Mighty One), and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s Elohim, and I will exalt him. 3 Yehovah is a man of war: Yehovah is his name. 4 Pharaoh’s chariots and his host hath he cast into the sea: his chosen captains also are drowned in the Red sea. 5 The depths have covered them: they sank into the bottom as a stone. 6 Thy right hand, O Yehovah, is become glorious in power: thy right hand, O Yehovah, hath dashed in pieces the enemy. 7 And in the greatness of your excellency thou hast overthrown them that rose up against thee: thou sent forth thy wrath, which consumed them as stubble. 8 And with the blast of thy nostrils the waters were gathered together, the floods stood upright as an heap, and the depths were congealed in the heart of the sea. 9 The enemy said, I will pursue, I will overtake, I will divide the spoil; my lust shall be satisfied upon them; I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.” [Comment: Is it possible Rev 12:15-16 is a parallel here? Rev 12:15 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. 16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. 17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of Yehovah, and have the testimony of Yayshua Messiah.] Exo 15:10 (Moses Song Cont.) Thou didst blow with thy wind, the sea covered them: they sank as lead in the mighty waters. 11Who is like unto thee, O Yehovah, among the gods? who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? 12 Thou stretched out thy right hand, the earth swallowed them. 13 Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation. 14 The people shall hear and be afraid: sorrow shall take hold on the inhabitants of Palestina. 15 Then the dukes (leaders) of Edom shall be amazed; the mighty men of Moab, trembling shall take hold upon them; all the inhabitants of Canaan shall melt away. 16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of your arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O Yehovah, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. 17 Thou shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O Yehovah, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established. 18 Yehovah shall reign for ever and ever. 19 For the horse of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Yehovah brought again the waters of the sea upon them; but the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea. 20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to Yehovah, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.” MOSES’ SECOND SONG In Deut. 31-32 we find the Second Song of Moses when the time came for Moses to die. It tells how Yehovah had blessed the people of Israel and tells of how the people of Israel would depart from Yehovah and Yehovah’s response of wrath to that departure) Deut. 31:14 And Yehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation. … 16 And Yehovah said unto Moses, Behold, thou shall sleep with thy fathers; and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of the strangers of the land, whither they go to be among them, and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. 17 Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our Elohim is not among us? 18 And I will surely hide my face in that day for all the evils which they shall have wrought, in that they are turned unto other gods. 19 Now therefore write ye this song for you and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be a witness for me against the children of Israel. 20 For when I shall have brought them into the land which I sware unto their fathers, that flows with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and provoke me, and break my covenant. 21 And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swore. 22 Moses therefore wrote this song the same day and taught it the children of Israel. 28 Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their ears, and call heaven and earth to record against them. 29 For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt yourselves and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of Yehovah, to provoke him to anger through the work of your hands. 30 And Moses spoke in the ears of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until they were ended. (THE SECOND SONG OF MOSES for a witness) Deut. 32:1 Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth. 2 My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass: 3 Because I will publish the name of Yehovah: ascribe ye greatness unto our Elohim. 4 He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a Elohim of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he. 5 They have corrupted themselves, their spot is not the spot of his children: they are a perverse and crooked generation. 6 Do ye thus requite (treat) Yehovah, O foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee? 7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will show thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. 8 When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance, when he separated the sons of Adam, he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel. 9 For Yehovah’s portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance. 10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye. 11 As an eagle stirs up her nest, flutters over her young, spreads abroad her wings, takes them, bears them on her wings: 12 So Yehovah alone did lead him, and there was no strange mighty one [god] with him. 13 He made him ride on the high places of the earth, that he might eat the increase of the fields; and he made him to suck honey out of the rock, and oil out of the flinty rock; 14 Butter of kine (cattle), and milk of sheep, with fat of lambs, and rams of the breed of Bashan, and goats, with the fat of kidneys of wheat; and thou didst drink the pure blood of the grape. 15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook Elohim which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation. 16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger. 17 They sacrificed unto devils, not to Eloah; to gods whom they knew not, to new gods that came newly up, whom your fathers feared not. 18 Of the Rock that begat thee thou art unmindful, and hast forgotten El [God] that formed thee.19 And when Yehovah saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters. 20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very forward (perverse) generation, children in whom is no faith. 21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not El [God]; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation. 22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger and shall burn unto the lowest hades [hell or subterranean pit], and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains. 23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them. 24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust. 25 The sword without, and terror within, shall destroy both the young man and the virgin, the suckling also with the man of gray hairs. 26 I said, I would scatter them into corners, I would make the remembrance of them to cease from among men: 27 Were it not that I feared the wrath of the enemy, lest their adversaries should behave themselves strangely(disregard), and lest they should say, “Our hand is high, and Yehovah hath not done all this.”28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them. 29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end! 30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and Yehovah had shut them up? (In other words, the Israelites were sold in slavery due to not paying attention to how they were to live righteously). 31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges. 32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: 33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. 34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures? 35 To me belongs vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste. 36 For Yehovah shall judge his people, and repent (sighs to) himself for his servants, when he sees that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left. 37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted, 38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection. 39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no elohim [god] with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand. 40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever. 41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies and will reward them that hate me. 42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy. 43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. 44 And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun. 45 And Moses made an end of speaking all these words to all Israel: 46 And he said unto them, Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law. 47 For it is not a vain thing for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land (if they would do what? Set their hearts unto all the words they had been instructed in), whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.” IN SUMMARY In Exodus 15 in Moses’ First Song, we find Yehovah’s called-out people singing and rejoicing after just coming out of physical slavery and escaping through the parted waters of the sea having been delivered or rescued. The Spring Feasts pictures, including The Feast of Harvest, or of Firstfruits or Pentecost which we are observing today, the time for the reward of the prophets and the saints rejoicing who have endured to the end and who have come out of spiritual and/or even physical slavery. They are in heaven standing on the Sea of Glass before their Father (and their Husband Yayshua the Son). In Rev. 15 verses 3&4 “And they (the saints standing on the sea of glass) sing the song of Moses the servant of Yehovah, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Yehovah El Shaddai; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. V4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord [Yehovah], and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest.” In the Second Song of Moses of Deut. 31-32, it tells about Yehovah’s people who had received physical salvation but because of hard and unrepentant hearts they would suffer slavery again as a result. This did happen and it is likely to happen again in the end times. However, finally in Revelation 15-16 the time of Yehovah’s wrath for unrepentant mankind has arrived and Yehovah will revenge those who have taken and abused His people. He will finally once again, bring Salvation to His people and we, the saints, will get to be the helpmeets of our Husband Yayshua in turning the hearts of Yehovah’s people back to Him. |
