In the Book of Revelation, the 7th seal reveals the 7 trumpets. In chapter eight, the first four sound. At the end of chapter eight, the last three trumpets are then called “woes.” Thus, the 7 trumpets are broken into a four-three pattern. This pattern is a KEY clue to how and when the 7 trumpets will sound. It so happens that the seven annual Sabbaths listed in Leviticus 23 also fall in a four-three pattern according to the Jewish civil year which begins on the Feast of Trumpets.
Consequently, the First Trumpet will sound on a future Feast of Trumpets. The Second Trumpet will sound on the Day of Atonement. The Third Trumpet will sound on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles. The Fourth Trumpet will sound on the Last Great Day.
The First Trumpet will warn of an outpouring of hail and fire causing a third of the earth to be burned. The Second Trumpet will warn of a third of the sea being turned into blood. The Third Trumpet will warn of a third of the rivers and springs becoming bitter as wormwood. The Fourth Trumpet will warn of a third of the sun, moon, and stars being darkened. These “trumpet plagues” are not brought about by God but by a limited nuclear and chemical attack launched against an area covering a third of the earth, sea, and sky. Looking at a globe, the North and South American continents of the New World would certainly cover about a third of the earth. Could this limited attack described by the first four trumpets be the Beast power based in Europe attacking America and the Western Hemisphere?
Following the successful attacks described by the first four trumpets in the autumn, the Fifth Trumpet will sound on the First Day of Unleavened Bread in the spring. At that time, an invasion of the Middle East is launched perhaps to gain control of the oil fields. This causes China and India and other Asia countries to quickly launch a counterforce of 200 million troops to stop this power grab by the Beast. To neutralize this large of a force, the Beast will be forced to use nukes. Thus, the Sixth Trumpet will sound on the Last Day of Unleavened Bread warning of an ensuing nuclear showdown that would destroy all life on the earth. This is the Great Tribulation when all life will be destroyed if not cut short.
By then, the Two Witnesses will have finished their 1,260 days of prophesying. Those in Jerusalem, who will have heeded Christ’s warning, will flee into the wilderness from the invading armies of the Beast. This is pictured in Revelation 12 as the woman (Jerusalem) fleeing for “a time, times, and half a time.” This does not mean three and half years as many suppose. Rather, it is the time between Passover and Pentecost. After the woman flees to safety, the Beast will fight against the Two Witnesses still at Jerusalem. He will manage to kill them which the entire world will celebrate as a great victory.
But then, the 7th Trumpet will sound on Pentecost which brings about the Resurrection of the Elect. The sky will roll back, and the very throne of God will be revealed from heaven, causing the wicked inhabitants of the earth to scurry into their holes like rats. Christ will send His angels out to gather together His elect from the four winds to meet in the clouds. This Resurrection party will consist of two groups as pictured by the two wave-loaves. The 144,000 and the innumerable multitude will end up in heaven as described in Revelation seven where the marriage of the Lamb will take place.
Christ will confirm the covenant with many for one week which will complete the 70th week of Daniel’s prophecy found in Daniel nine. The seven weeks of Daniel’s prophecy will run from Passover to Pentecost. The sixty-two weeks of Daniel’s prophecy will precede the seven weeks when the rebuilding of Jerusalem will start to allow the repopulation of the city after a major missile attack had caused the bulk of the inhabitants to flee for 1,260 days.
Between Resurrection Pentecost and the following Feast of Trumpets, the seven last plagues of God’s wrath will be poured out upon the wicked inhabitants of the earth who refuse to repent. These seven last plagues will cause all nations to pull together to fight against this alien invader. Also, during this time, the resurrected saints in heaven will prepare for the upcoming battle when Christ will return to the earth to establish His divine rule. Christ will come on a white horse as described in Revelation 19 with His army of saints from heaven on the Feast of Trumpets. They will stand upon the Mount of Olives from where they will launch their plan to capture Jerusalem from the armies of the Beast. The call will go out for everyone to join the fight against this “invasion from Mars.”
Armies from all over the world will assemble in the valley of Jezreel near Megiddo. From there, they will march down the Jordan Valley to reach Jerusalem using the Valley of Jehoshaphat as cover. This will bring about the Battle of that Great Day of God Almighty (Revelation 16:14) which will take place on the Day of Atonement. These puny troops will be crushed like grapes in a press causing their blood to gush out for miles. This is pictured by the goat which is slain on the Day of Atonement. Satan will be taken that day (the live goat) and cast into the bottomless pit (a major oil well near Jerusalem) where he will be locked away for a thousand years. Thus, all rebellion will be put down to bring about atonement (not salvation) so that Christ may dwell and rule on the earth for a thousand years as pictured by the Feast of Tabernacles.
